Tips and Suggestions |
Even though Random is random, you do have some control over the results. The random colors for the surface will lean towards the currently selected Fill Color (set in the Surface mode) and the selected Vibrancy (set in the Options).
In both Shape and Surface modes, when you stroke the bottom ruler left or right that rotates the sculpture.
Shaping Tips
The Grid and the Geometric shapes work well together to make dolls. You can easily stack one shape on another to make bodies of all kinds of proportions.
Don't forget to make the bottom of your sculpture large enough for it to stand up!
Without a base, your sculpture will be a tube opened from top to bottom- this is a great way to make your own custom designed beads. One big bead could make an interesting tubular pendant!
Making Tips
Before you press Make, double check the following:
- Is this the size you want? If not, resize it in the Shape mode.
- Gloss or Matt? Set it to get it!
- What is the inside like? Go to the Options to change it if you wish.
- Is the base where you want it? If not, move it in the Shape mode.
Note: These are decor items, not meant as toys for underage children. They should not be exposed to fire or electricity. The colors can fade when wet. As vases, they can be used for dried or artificial floral arrangements, but not for fresh flowers that require water.
Memory
The resolution the Surface can be changed in the Settings App. If Sage is having memory problems, is slow, or crashes, make the Surface Size lower. To make it look nicer, make it higher. If you are using a 2nd Generation iPad (the iPad2), don't go higher than Medium.
The surface will always be exported at a high resolution for 3D Printing; but remember- the quality will always be limited by the quality of the images you provide.

If Sage is having memory issues because you have lots (more than 20) of decals on your surface, here is a trick to free up some memory:
There you go- you can't edit the Stickers in this version anymore, so save it with a different name, so you can go back to the other one if you need to. Also, since it has been flattened, it has a fixed resolution. Increasing the resolution in the Settings now will not improve it.
- Make sure all of your decals are exactly how you want them to be.
- Save your work!
- Touch the "Send" button. It will export a render of your sculpture to your Photos, as well as an image of the whole Surface flattened.
- Load the "Blank" can sculpture. You will now have no decals, and a plain white background.
- Load your previous Sculpture, but as Shape only, no Surface.
- Press and hold the Background thumbnail in the Stickers Bar, to see the Background dialog box.
- Touch Replace.
- In the File Screen, touch "Import Photo".
- Select the Flattened Surface you exported.
- Touch it again in the File Screen, then touch "Open".
